About the Coordinator Pst. Chaplain Major John Yakubu, PhD, PMP, CPA, HRM, ACTS

Background

Pastor John Yakubu, Ph.D. (born Abdulaziz Yakubu) hails from Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria, and currently resides in Benin City, the state capital. Born to a Muslim father and a Christian mother, he developed a strong passion for Christ at the early age of eight, where he demonstrated an unusual depth of knowledge of the Scriptures. Having read and studied both the Qur’an and the Bible, he possesses a broad theological and interfaith understanding that has shaped his intellectual and spiritual outlook.

He grew up in the slum of Effurun–Warri, Delta State, where he experienced a very difficult childhood marked by poverty and hardship. From an early age, he engaged in various menial jobs, including farm work, rolling wheelbarrows, digging pits, carrying blocks, and serving as an apprentice refrigerator repairer. Despite these challenges, he remained deeply committed to faith and learning. Due to severe family challenges which he considered a distraction to his spiritual focus, he slept on a church altar for eight years of his life, a period that profoundly shaped his discipline, devotion, and calling.

Pastor John Yakubu holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Theology, alongside several professional certifications that have strengthened his academic, leadership, and mentoring capacity. He demonstrated exceptional understanding of theology and leadership upon gaining admission into Bible school and later received training as a chaplain. He also taught as a schoolteacher for eight years, earning a meager salary, while remaining steadfast in his pursuit of purpose and service. He is presently a lawyer-in-training, reflecting his commitment to continuous intellectual development.

He serves as the Coordinator of Ecclesian Theological University (ETU), where he also lectures, contributing significantly to the academic, spiritual, and leadership formation of students. In addition to his role in higher education, he is the proprietor of a secondary (high) school in his community, through which he actively shapes the lives and futures of young learners. He is deeply committed to educational excellence, personal growth, and community transformation, and he is a Certified Peace Ambassador, devoted to promoting harmony, understanding, and positive societal engagement.

Recently, he embarked on an itinerary tour of churches and schools, training leaders in mentorship and leadership principles. Fondly referred to by his associates as “The Man of Vision,” his ideas are widely regarded as inexhaustible. His foremost role model is Dr. Myles Munroe of blessed memory. He has also worked with several foreign organizations, including the ABCORP Group and the Euro-American Education Group, further broadening his global exposure and leadership experience.

He is a prolific author and scholar, having published several books, including Biblical Linguistics and Poetry as a Metaphorization of Life, as well as numerous academic lecture notes for theology and leadership students. An avid lecturer, coach, and mentor, his passion for esoteric wisdom and deep truth has become positively influential, impacting thousands of lives through the Ecclesian Theological University (ETU) and the Ecclesian Mentorship Centre (EMC).

We are committed to delivering quality theological, leadership, and professional education designed to transform individuals, institutions, and society.
